Racer X Gaming

Scope

Design a company logo and brand style guide for Racer X, a gaming company focused on providing family-friendly accessible games for people of all ages and abilities.

When I started designing this logo, I pulled inspiration from my own childhood. Growing up, I spent many summers playing and working summer jobs at a local arcade, playing SEGA racing games and Mario Kart, and watching Sunday cartoons like Speed Racer. I wanted to keep that childlike fun in my design but blend it with the rise of more serious gaming culture, esports, and my newer interests like F1 racing.

It all starts with a sketch.

I wanted to create a logo that could be translate well across all ages and work for both casual gaming and for more advanced and serious gaming environments.

Logo Breakdown

  • Tech Inspired Hues

  • High Saturation

  • Optimistic and Mindful

I chose off-black and racer green to represent the brand’s image. The off-black cuts out some of the harshness of a true black, and the green provides that pop of color for optimism, with green representing “Go” in racing.
